LAN Chatter

You can make money at online casinos!  Do the math and you'll see what I mean.  The ones I've listed in the Casino Payout Comparison all give a bonus, such as doubling your money, when you sign up.  So, for example, if you sign up and deposit $50 they'll give you $50 more.   Aces High, again for example, makes you play three times your money, but with a payout of over 95% you'll still end up with $85 ($100 x .95 x .95 x .95).  So you've just made $35.  Just remember to bet several small wagers rather than one large one, so that the odds have a chance to even out in case you lose the first few.  How can the casinos do this you ask?  Well, they're betting that you'll stick around.  Another great casino not listed on the chart is Windows Casino.

LAN Chatter

A 100% pure Java chat program.  LAN Chatter is a multi-platform, free chat program that works behind a firewall.  This chat program includes both the client and server which are run behind the firewall.  It is ultra lightweight with a small footprint, and fast.  Painting to the screen has issues on the Solaris platform.  This beta version 0.1 allows you to chat anywhere within a firewall or anywhere on the internet not protected by a firewall.  Future versions will include the ability to change to a trusted port, (e.g. port 21 for HTTP tunneling).  Governed by the GPL license.

Instructions

To launch the chat server type "java Server" at the command prompt in the directory in which the class files are located.  The server will run quietly in the background utilizing almost no CPU time.  If it appears to hang it is working.  No batch files come with the program as yet.

To open the client type "java UserFrame" at the command prompt at the command prompt in the directory in which the class files are located.  In the drop down menu under File click User Info and enter your desired user name.  After you have entered your username, the File / User Info selection will be grayed out and File / Connect will be selectable.  Click Connect and enter the IP address of the machine on which the server is running.  Do not change the Port unless you have changed it within the source code.
